To the Friends of the Flying Pig:

It’s hard to believe that 2019 is here! It seems like it was just last week that we were celebrating the 20th running of the Flying Pig weekend, and here we are well under way with planning for the 21st edition of the Pig.

We want to take a moment to thank all of you for making 2018 such a success. From the start of our TQL Beer Series at the Bockfest 5K, through Flying Pig weekend powered by P&G, to the Queen Bee Half Marathon and 4 Miler empowered by P&G and Kroger, every event was a sellout. And it was a year of milestones for each, as the TQL Beer Series celebrated its “Six Pack” sixth anniversary, the Flying Pig it’s 20th and the Queen Bee’s 5th year running. Whether it was your first time at one of our events, or if you’re a Flying Pig “Streaker” completing all 20 marathons, we thank you for participating and hope you enjoyed it.

Because of you, we were able again this year to help charities and nonprofits raise more than $1 million for their causes. With more than 300 charity partners for Flying Pig weekend alone, and as a 501(c)(3) organization ourselves, we are proud to partner with these groups in their fundraising efforts.

We also want to thank our sponsors, including our presenting sponsors, P&G, Asics, Paycor and Kroger. Without your help, we couldn’t put on these world-class events throughout the year, and we value and appreciate your partnerships.

And, without our volunteers we would literally be lost, we thank them for devoting their time answering questions, giving directions, cleaning up the course and so much more. Did you know that it takes more than 8,000 volunteers over Flying Pig weekend to get the Pig running? Many of those volunteers return for the Beer Series and Queen Bee as well. Your dedication is valued by our staff, and by our participants as well!

Finally, we thank all the first responders, including police and medical personnel, for keeping us safe during our events. Because we go through two states and six different municipalities and villages, it takes a lot of cooperation among the various departments for everything to go smoothly. Each year we are proud to work alongside these officials and we sincerely thank them for their help.

Yes, 2018 was a year to celebrate, but we think 2019 will be a special year as well! We hope you will join us for our events, starting with the Bockfest 5K on Saturday, March 2 and stay with us through the Queen Bee on Saturday, October 12. We at the Flying Pig wish you a Happy New Year!
