We are proud to partner with Tri-State Running Company to offer a youth training program for the Flying Pig 5K! This training program is best suited for those in middle school or junior high. Schools and other youth groups can now sign up as an official Fly Up to 5k by emailing us at email@example.com.
Similar to our Kids’ Marathon 26th Mile program, students can train for the 5K together as a group during the weeks leading up to the Flying Pig 5K. Our 5K Hog Log can be used as a training tracker and also includes healthy living and training tips.
Tri-State Running will host a kickoff training event for middle school and elementary aged children, in partnership with the Flying Pig. This will take place at their Mariemont location, 7433 Wooster Pike. During the event the Flying Pig will distribute the 5K Hog Logs and other “pig” swag. Tri-State Running Company staff will be available to give expert training, nutrition, and injury prevention tips. There will also be a group walk/run held for the middle school session.
Middle School (5th-8th grades): Monday, February 13th from 6:30pm-8:00pm
Elementary (K-4th grades): Wednesday, February 15th from 6:30pm-7:30pm
Interested group leaders, school staff, or parents can request a visit from one of Tri-State Running Company’s coaches, Jack Corey. At these visits, Jack can explain each of the three training programs for the Flying Pig 5K, talk to students about the importance of goal setting and offer unique training tips.

5K Walking Program: This program is designed for those who want to start walking so that they are prepared for the Tri-State Running Company/Flying Pig 5K. Whether you wish to walk with friends or try this challenge on your own, this program will allow you to walk the entire Flying Pig 5K.
Beginner 5K Program: This beginner version is designed for those who may not be runners yet but want to run the Tri-State Running Company/Flying Pig 5K. It slowly progresses from walking and running intervals until you can run a full 5K!
Intermediate 5K Running Program: This program is designed for those who are athletic and can already run at least a mile without walking. It is designed for athletes who want to stay in shape during the offseason or begin to compete at the 5K level.

Packet Pick-Up Information
Group Leaders will have a special early packet pickup prior to race weekend for those pre-registered (by midnight April 17th) and registered under their group name. Registrations after April 17th must be picked up at the expo on Friday, May 5th or at the race site Saturday, May 6th.
