'FLYING PIGLETS'
PREPARE FOR MARATHON WEEKEND
Nutrition Council Program
Combines Exercise, Healthy Eating

Cincinnati, Ohio (February 28 , 2006) - The Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon is partnering with the Nutrition Council of Greater Cincinnati to help youngsters throughout the Tri-State complete the Flying Pig Marathon, one mile at a time, with the "Flying Piglets Incremental Marathon" program.

Schools, Scout troops and other youth groups can sign up to run, walk or wheelchair 25 miles between now and Marathon weekend, May 5-7. The program wraps up at the Flying Piglet Fun Run and Family Fest on Saturday, May 6, where participants finish their "marathon" by completing the final 1.2 miles at the Flying Pig 5K.

"We are excited about this expanded involvement by the Nutrition Council to have children get involved in the Marathon," said Iris Simpson-Bush, Marathon executive director. "The 'Flying Piglet' program gets kids moving in a program that stresses fun and fitness."

"The 'Flying Piglet' rewards youngsters for eating right and exercising regularly," said Robin Pendery from the Nutrition Council of Greater Cincinnati. "When the entire class, teachers and parents get involved, it's a great lesson in wellness for the whole family."

There you'll find a mileage and nutrition log of exercise and healthy eating tips, along with a 'kid friendly' map of the Marathon route so participants can follow their progress through the neighborhoods of Greater Cincinnati.
