FLYING PIG MARATHON OFFERS
'RIVER ROUTE' TO, FROM RACE
Water Taxis will help runners reach their destinations
Cincinnati, Ohio (April 23, 2004) - For the first time, the Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon will make water taxi service available to runners staying in Northern Kentucky who need transportation to the Marathon and the Papa John's 10K on Sunday, May 2.
"Since many out of town runners stay in Northern Kentucky, and may not have ground transportation, we want to offer them the opportunity to take a boat shuttle to the starting line," said Iris Simpson-Bush, executive director. "Instead of thinking about catching a ride or where to park, runners can think about their upcoming race."
The boats will be provided by B & B Riverboats and will start shuttles at 5 a.m. from Covington Landing and will drop off runners at the Public Landing, near Mehring Way by Paul Brown Stadium. The taxis will run every 30 minutes, with the last one leaving at 6 a.m. and will cost $3 round trip. After the race, taxis will be available to take runners back to Northern Kentucky, starting at 10 a.m. at the Public Landing and running until 2 p.m. The Marathon starts at 6:30 a.m. and the Papa John's 10K at 6:50 a.m., with both starting lines along Mehring Way south of Paul Brown Stadium.
The 6th annual Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon will be run on Sunday, May 2, 2004, featuring the Corporate Express Corporate Relays, the Outback 2-person relay, the Ernst & Young 4-person relay and the Papa John's 10K. The Kahn's Flying Piglet Fun Run and Festival featuring the Pampers Diaper Dash will be held Saturday, May, 1, as will the new 5K Fun Run and Family Festival presented by girls!CAN.
Presenting sponsors of the Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon are CoActive Marketing Group, Corporate Express, Mercy Health Partners and Paycor.
