Cincinnati Jeweler Boris Litwin Is Rings' Designer
Cincinnati, Ohio (May 5, 2003) - For the first time in the five year history of the Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon, the winners of the men's and women's divisions of the full marathon will receive commemorative championship rings. John Aerni and Lisa Veneziano, both Cincinnati-area residents, are the first to be awarded this special keepsake to remember their victories. The rings, commissioned by the Marathon and designed by Cincinnati jeweler Boris Litwin Jewelers, are unique to the Flying Pig Marathon.
"We see the marathon as a very special accomplishment for anyone who finishes it," said Executive Director Iris Simpson-Bush. "But for the winners, it is truly a triumph of the heart and spirit. This year we wanted to start a new tradition of acknowledging those who finish first."
The rings are gold with the Flying Pig Marathon logo. The winners' finishing times will be engraved on the sides of the rings each year.
"Boris Litwin Jewelers is proud to be the official jeweler of the Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon," said B.J. Foreman, owner of Boris Litwin Jewelers. "While we offer Flying Pig jewelry and ornaments throughout the year, we are especially pleased to have been a part of the development of this first-time keepsake for the Marathon."
