JOE HALE NAMED PRESIDENT
OF FLYING PIG MARATHON BOARD
Ferguson, Wise Join as New Members
Cincinnati, Ohio (July 12, 2005) - Joe Hale, president of Cinergy Foundation and vice president and chief communications officer of Cinergy Corp., has been named president of the board of directors of the Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon.
Hale became internationally known this year, for his "7 in 7 on 7" marathon fundraiser, running seven marathons in seven months on seven continents. He completed his mission to raise money for the March of Dimes on July 3 by completing the Gold Coast marathon in Australia. But in fact, Hale ran eight marathons during that time-he ran the Flying Pig Marathon on May 1 as a bonus.
"We are honored to have someone who is as dedicated to the Flying Pig as Joe Hale to serve as our board president," said Iris Simpson-Bush, executive director. "His commitment to community, as well as to running, will serve the Marathon well."
The Marathon board also welcomes two new members, James Ferguson of CoActive Marketing Group, and Tammy Wise of Burke, Inc.
James Ferguson, division president, marketing services group at CoActive, joined the company in 1988 and was named division president in 2003. CoActive has been with the Flying Pig Marathon since its inception as the marketing 'branding' agent of the Pig.
Tammy L. Wise is vice president, senior account executive at Burke, Inc., a Cincinnati-based marketing research and consulting firm. Ms. Wise is a graduate of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and started running in 1999. Burke provides marketing research services for the Flying Pig Marathon.
The eighth annual Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon weekend is May 5-7, 2006. Presenting sponsors are CoActive Marketing Group, Corporate Express, Ernst & Young, Mercy Health Partners, National City and Paycor.
