FLYING PIG MARATHON ANNOUNCES NEW STAFF MEMBERS

Cincinnati, Ohio (September 15, 2003) - Veteran Cincinnati-area race managers Don Connolly and Kelly Weissmann will join long-time operations manager Ric Wetterauer on the Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon staff for the 2004 race, according to Iris Simpson-Bush, executive director. Connolly will be the race director, in charge of race course planning, Weissmann will be the logistics coordinator in charge of race day details and Wetterauer will be the operations coordinator.
"We are fortunate to have three people with this much experience join the Marathon for the 2004 race," said Simpson-Bush. "As the Flying Pig Marathon grows, we depend on people like Don, Ric and Kelly to take us to the next level."
Connolly has directed local races since 1971, when he took over Cincinnati's Thanksgiving Day Race. In his career he's managed more than 700 races, including the Heart Mini-Marathon, Race for the Cure, Reggae Run, Jingle Bell Run and the Avon Women's Running Series. He currently assists at some 40 races a year.
Kelly returns to the Marathon, where she served as the race's executive director. Kelly also has managed several area races, including the inaugural Lady Distance 5K and 10K in 2003.
Ric has worked on race-day operations for the Flying Pig Marathon for the last four years, in charge of finish line setups.
The 6th annual Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon will be held Sunday, May 2, 2004, featuring the Marathon, Outback 2-person relay, Ernst & Young 4-person relay and the Papa John's 10K. Presenting sponsors are CoActive Marketing, Mercy Health Partners and Paycor.
