FLYING PIG TO HOLD NEW YEAR'S DAY FUN RUN
'Resolution Run' starts training season
Cincinnati, Ohio (December 13, 2004) - The Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon is kicking off the 2005 Marathon training season on Saturday, New Year's Day, with its first 'Flying Pig Marathon Resolution Run,' a mile-long fun run/walk at 10 a.m. along Cincinnati's riverfront.
"New Year's Day is the traditional day when most of us start our New Year's resolutions," said Iris Simpson-Bush, executive director. "This is a fun way to get those resolutions started, as well as a great reminder that there's still time to train for the 2005 Flying Pig Marathon."
The route will go from the start line of the Marathon, on the south side of Paul Brown Stadium along Mehring Way, to the Marathon's finish line in Yeatman's Cove, approximately one mile. Breakfast and refreshments will follow.
Among invited participants are the mayors of Cincinnati, Newport and Covington, Cincinnati City Council members, the 2004 Marathon winners, P.J. Ball and T.J. Lentz, along with area charities.
This year's Flying Pig Marathon features the Kahn's Piglet Fun Run, 5K Fun Run and Family Fest presented by girls!CAN, the Papa John's 10K, the new Flying Pig Half Marathon presented by National City, the Ernst & Young 4-person relay, the Corporate Express Corporate Relay and the full Flying Pig Marathon.
The Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon weekend events are scheduled for Saturday, April 30 and Sunday, May 1, 2005, with the Bob Roncker's Running Spot Health and Fitness Expo scheduled for Friday, April 29 and Saturday, April 30 at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center, Covington, KY.
