Calling All Volunteers!
We're still looking for volunteers who can help put on the Pig, from stuffing goodie bags to working the course. We especially need volunteers for Thursday, May 3rd. If you and/or your group is available to join the more than 3,000 others who make the Pig fly, contact Mary Enzweiler at email@example.com for more information or fill out the on line volunteer form.
Take Me Out to the Ball Pork!
Again this year, the Cincinnati Reds are partnering with the Pig to offer a "Flying Pig Marathon" night at Great American Ball Park as the Reds take on the Houston Astros on Monday, May 7. The first 500 who sign up for tickets through the Marathon get to parade along the warning track before the game, and of course, the men's and women's marathon winners get to throw out the first pitch. Get the details on line.
This comes from Ginny Halloran, who wrote this for her daughter after last year's Pig. It has some great words of inspiration for all of us. Thanks for sharing, Ginny, hope to see you (with your Pig wings) and your family back this year!
Pig Poem '06
I hope your life's a marathon,
Long and full of fun,
With friends and family along the way
To help you as you run.
With music and cheers to lift your spirits
And water stops to quench your thirst,
With knowledge that others are on your team
When the course becomes its worst
Cause when life becomes really tough
And situations seem most dark,
You'll know you can conquer anything,
Just like the hill to Eden Park.
And don't forget to share the joy,
Especially the silliness life brings.
Remember sometimes it's even OK
To wear pig hats with flapping wings.
Or stop the race to meet your family,
Give them a kiss, a hug and say, 'hi'
Cause they're the ones who really count,
Even if others pass you by.
Life's marathon has its ups and downs,
But you'll succeed and here is why
Because you know the real secret of life,
Even Pigs Can Fly if they try.
