The latest and greatest news from the Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon
THE SQUEAL is the free e-mail newsletter of the
10th Annual Flying Pig Marathon
4 Days until Flying Pig Marathon Weekend!
Greetings!
Welcome to Day 23 of our daily e-mail blasts to help you prepare for the 10th annual Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon events.
Bobbie Walsh of Blanchester, Ohio, says that being part of the Flying Pig Marathon is a long lost dream for her. Here's her story:
"I'm a 5l-year-old stay at home mom of six. My husband and I are running our first marathon together. Over 20 years ago while living in California, I dreamed of running a marathon after my third child was born. However, three more precious blessings arrived, our last one a native Buckeye! So, my dream will become a reality here at one of the most fun marathons in America. All six children will be there, including our granddaughter..seeing their smiling faces at the finish line is my motive to get there!"
Better late than never, Bobbie, best of luck and hope your family enjoys the Pig. What is your Pig story? You still have a few days to let us know your 'pig tale.' Email us at media@flyingpigmarathon.com along with your contact information.
Pig Prognostication
It's time to start watching the weather forecast for Flying Pig Marathon weekend. Our official television partner, WLWT-TV Channel 5, will be at the Flying Pig Marathon Health & Fitness Expo presented by National City at the Duke Energy Center with up to the minute forecasts and live radar. Be prepared for Marathon weekend!
Running Royalty to Visit the Pig
Some big names in the running community will be in Cincinnati to help celebrate the Pig's 10th anniversary, including Runner's World contributor Hal Higdon, two-time Olympic Marathon qualifier Dick Beardsley and international Track and Field Athlete of the Year Henry Rono. You will be able to see them over the weekend at the Expo. Make sure you say hi to our special guests.
The Greening 'o the Pig
The Duke Energy Center, the site of the Flying Pig Expo, is conveniently located within walking distance of everything that Flying Pig guests may be interested in, from the "Pig Out" pasta party, to the Party on the Square Friday night, to the start and finish lines. Nearly 3,000 hotel rooms are within walking distance of the Duke Energy Center, just another way we're working to keep the Pig 'green.'
