Greening of the PigGreening of the Pig
Thanks to all participants, spectators and volunteers who helped with the Greening of the Pig. This year, through recycling and composting, the event diverted 65% of waste from the landfill. This was an increase of 15% from the 2012 event. This year 282 participants signed up for the free carpool parking, transporting 846 passengers. New this year, Metro provided an option for family and friends to cheer on their runners. Nearly 250 spectators purchased special day passes, which enabled them to hop off and on the bus at stops near the race courses. Equipped with custom-designed, color-coded maps, out-of-town visitors and locals avoided road closures and detours.
