PigAbilities

PigAbilities

PigAbilities is an event within in the Flying Pig Marathon for people with developmental disabilities who will achieve their distance goal through a progressive training program. Each participant will set a personal goal to walk, run or wheel a certain distance. This 12-week training program will provide the support, instruction and encouragement each person needs to be successful in reaching their goal!

Making Healthy Choices

Walking and running are free, easy, and make a real difference to your everyday life. By starting a routine of exercise, eating well, and staying hydrated you'll live longer; according to statistics you can gain 2 hours of life expectancy for every hour of vigorous exercise - not to mention a half hour of walking can help you burn 125 calories! PigAbilities will help you learn how these healthy choices can help you reach your goal.

Training and Tracking!

Registration is required to be part of the PigAbilities:

The first six weeks of PigAbilities training will take place indoors at the Recreation Complex on the UC Campus; the second six weeks will take place outdoors at Friendship Park on Riverside Drive. Using the PigAbilities Log, track your progress towards your goal during your training sessions.

Ready, Set, Go!

Details for the day of the event will be covered at our Week 12 Race Readiness Session. Then on Saturday, May 4 PigAbilities participants will complete their last mile, cross the finish line and receive an official event medal!
