How To Volunteer

The Flying Pig Marathon needs nearly 5000 volunteers for several important areas of the Marathon - before, during, and after the race. Each Volunteer receives a classic Flying Pig Grunt t-shirt.

Volunteer Assignment Descriptions:

Expo Set-up - Help in the set up of various areas of the Expo and other pre-race prepartions
Location: Duke Energy Convention Center
Date: Thursday, May 2, 2013
Health and Fitness Expo - Assist with packet pickup and other expo activities
Location: Duke Energy Convention Center
Dates: Friday, May 3, 2013 and Saturday, May 4, 2013
5K, 10K, Kids Piglet Fun Run - Assist with registration, start lines, finish lines, and course monitoring
Location: Yeatmans Cove area
Date: Saturday, May 4, 2013
Marathon Day - Assist in several areas on Sunday, May 5, 2013
- Start Line - Provide information to runners near Paul Brown Stadium, assist in clean up , serve as course monitors in downtown area
- Course Timer - Call out time, pace, predicted finish times to runners at mile marker on the course
- Info Pig - Provide informationn to runners and spectators at various locations. Training provided
- Course Monitors - Insure runner and spectator safety at various locations along the marathon and half marathon course.

Non-profit Organizations looking for Fund-raising Opportunities by volunteering as a group:
The mission of the Cincinnati Marathon, Inc. is to provide a premier event open to athletes of all abilities that is dedicated to supporting charities. The event should inspire community celebration and reward the emotions of all participants, sponsors, volunteers and spectators. Volunteers play a significant role in the success of the Pig. Over 4000 volunteers are needed to make the Pig fly. The majority of our volunteers represent the official Flying Pig charities. In keeping with the mission of the Marathon, these official charities and non-profit organizations are eligible to receive a Pig donation in exchange for the volunteer services. Pig donations range from $325 to $1000 depending on the assignment and number of volunteers provided. Typically, groups of at least 30 individuals are required to adequately cover an assignment.
