Flying Pig Marathon Joins Abbott World Marathon Majors Wanda Age Group Qualifying Series


Cincinnati (For Immediate Release) – The Flying Pig Marathon is joining the second edition of the Abbott World Marathon Majors Wanda Age Group World Ranking Series as a qualifying event for the 2021 world championships.

The qualifying period for world ranking points begins September 30, 2019, and runs until October 11, 2020. Participants earn two qualifying times and the top-ranked runners will earn a spot in the AbbottWMM Wanda Age Group World Championships in 2021, the location of which will be announced next year.

Points are earned according to age, time, and gender for the following age groups: 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, and 80+. The inaugural world championships will be held within the 2020 Virgin Money London Marathon on Sunday, April 26.

More than 125,00 runners aged 40+ participate in AbbottWMM races each year and this new system will allow even more runners to become a part of the AbbottWMM family. Our system gives runners a chance to run all over the world and all across the calendar on a truly global stage. We want to give them a chance to gain recognition like never before.”
