Course Tour

Linwood is Miles 19 – 20 of the full marathon course. The neighborhood of Linwood, established in 1848, is quite a welcome sight to the runners and walkers exiting spectator-less Columbia Parkway. The long, Eastern Avenue trek back to the finish begins with Linwood. The final relay exchange occurs in this section of the course at Linwood Baptist Church and is traditionally a very busy area. Mile 20 occurs in Linwood and many marathoners fear “hitting the wall” at this point. Pushing through the wall is the way to the finish line and any encouragement is much appreciated. Luckily, the remainder of the course is relatively flat compared to the first 20 miles.
