High School Scholarship

About The Flying Pig Marathon Scholarship

The Flying Pig Marathon is committed to inspiring a passion for health and wellness in the youth of Greater Cincinnati. Beyond that, we realize the importance of education and community service. These basic principles have encouraged us to create a scholarship for high school students in the Greater Cincinnati area who are pursuing post secondary education.

Thanks to the Bob and Jeanne Coughlin Foundation and Skyline Chili, $20,000 scholarships ($5,000/year) will be awarded to 14 high school students who are members of their high school’s cross country or track & field team! They must exemplify our mission of giving back to the community while also showcasing a passion for running. The core values we’ll be looking for in an applicant are dedication, teamwork, and service to their school and community. If you are a high school student of this caliber, then we encourage you to apply.

Scholarship winners will be invited to attend a celebratory breakfast and award ceremony on April 9th, 2025 8-10AM.

This year's keynote speaker is Harvey Lewis! Harvey is an accomplished ultrarunner and high school social studies teacher from the School for Creative & Performing Arts. He has won races ranging from the hottest race - the Badwater 135 twice to Bigs Backyard “Last Person Standing” World Championship in 2021 and 2023 running 450 miles across 4 1/2 days.

He lives between two cities Cincinnati and Circleville every week for over a decade with his wife Kelly and dog Carly. He run-commutes a minimum of 3 miles to work every day, both ways, for over 11 years. While Harvey has a Jeep, he’s cycled and ran the 104 miles to Circleville before after work.

His favorite race is the Flying Pig Marathon and he is a one of 76 streakers who have ran all 26 Flying Pig Marathons!

The Scholarship Breakfast will be emceed by WLWT's Megan Mitchell.
