- When Pigs Fly, Anything's Possible
From a single community race in 1999, the Flying Pig Marathon has grown into the engine that is Pig Works, producing 17 annual events that bring together more than 50,000 participants and 8,000 volunteers each year. Today, Pig Works is a year-round civic institution—generating over $45 million in annual economic impact, supporting hundreds of nonprofits, and inspiring health, fitness, and community spirit across Greater Cincinnati.
When Pigs Fly, Anything’s Possible is a $12 million campaign to empower Pig Works’ next chapter, building on decades of community impact and positioning the organization for long-term growth. The campaign will provide the space, resources, and capacity to:

A PLACE FOR EVERY PACE, WHERE GOALS (LIKE PIGS) TAKE FLIGHT
Pig Works is building a new Community HQ in Walnut Hills, a home where lifelong fitness journeys begin, finish lines are imagined, and the region gets moving together. This purpose-built, 18,000 sq. ft. facility brings all operations under one roof for the first time — streamlining logistics, increasing efficiency, and creating space for scalable growth. More importantly, it establishes a visible, year-round community anchor in the heart of the Walnut Hills neighborhood.
As an iconic addition to a historic neighborhood, the HQ will spark energy and foot traffic, elevate the business district, and bring new vibrancy to a key redevelopment corridor. Inside, flexible community space will welcome partners, nonprofits, and neighborhood organizations for wellness clinics, training sessions, injury-prevention workshops, volunteer meetings, youth programs, and health education. This is where Pig Works becomes a daily presence — not just a race-weekend powerhouse.
Just outside the front doors, Runners Park brings the community together — a vibrant space for walking, running, and connecting. This open, welcoming area invites runners, walkers, training groups, and neighbors year-round. It adds green space, enhances the streetscape, improves safety, and generates consistent foot traffic that supports nearby small businesses. From youth run clubs to weekday group training, Runners Park helps Walnut Hills become a destination for health, connection, and community energy.
Together, the headquarters and Runners Park will solidify the Flying Pig’s year-round impact — helping activate a historic neighborhood, support local businesses, and accelerate the $46 million in annual economic impact the Pig already brings to Greater Cincinnati.Help bring the HQ & Runners Park to life.
DREAMS AREN’T ACHIEVED ALONE
Pig Works’ partnerships are grounded in a simple belief: movement brings people together, strengthens communities, and creates opportunity across generations. By growing the team that leads our youth initiatives, accessibility programming, and community collaborations, we can broaden our reach and deepen our impact.
As part of the When Pigs Fly, Anything’s Possible campaign, investments will support cornerstone programs that define our mission and our impact:
- The Youth Program, engaging 6,000–8,000 children each year, helps students build confidence, set goals, and develop lifelong fitness habits. Families and schools consistently describe the experience as transformational — especially for kids with limited access to extracurricular activities or supportive outlets.
- PigAbilities, the Flying Pig’s fully inclusive one-mile event, ensures that athletes of all abilities can participate in the joy and accomplishment of race weekend. More than 2,000 participants run, walk, or roll toward the Finish Swine each year, celebrating visibility, inclusion, and achievement across Greater Cincinnati.
- The Community Scholars Program, which awards $20,000 college scholarships to local high school seniors, extends this pathway beyond race day. To date, 63 Scholars have received a combined $890,000, opening doors to higher education, leadership, and future opportunity.
These programs are powerful — but demand now exceeds capacity. More schools want to participate, more youth organizations are seeking partnership, more athletes with disabilities are looking for inclusive opportunities, and more families are turning to the Pig as a source of belonging and growth.
A $3 million investment will expand the staffing and partnership capacity needed to meet this rising demand, enabling Pig Works to reach more students, more families, more athletes, and more neighborhoods across Greater Cincinnati.
Help expand youth, accessibility, and community impact across the region.
MORE RUNNERS, MORE RIPPLE
The Flying Pig is our tentpole, our engine, and our launchpad. It’s the iconic weekend that captures the spirit, humor, grit, and pride that make Cincinnati Cincinnati — a uniquely cultural, beloved event that draws more than 42,000 athletes and generates tens of millions in regional economic activity each year.
As part of the When Pigs Fly, Anything’s Possible campaign, investments will strengthen and elevate the Flying Pig Marathon so it can reach its full potential as a bucket-list race and a regional economic driver. We achieved #1 Fan-Favorite Marathon despite operating with a “small but mighty” staff. Comparable race organizations run with twice the full-time employees, and while we’ve done a lot with a lean team, now it’s time to grow our capacity, expand our reach, and scale the event to match the enthusiasm and demand of our community.
A stronger Flying Pig strengthens everything Pig Works does. It means:
- Greater visibility and support for our over 300 local nonprofits partners— every runner becomes a force for good.
- Increased participation revenue that builds capacity for year-round youth and accessibility programs.
- More activity in hotels, restaurants, neighborhoods, and cultural districts.
- Deeper engagement with residents, families, first-time runners, and lifelong athletes.
- A stronger national platform that elevates Cincinnati’s identity and civic pride.
This investment also supports responsible growth, including sustainability improvements that reduce race waste and ensure the Pig grows in a way worthy of the community it represents. A bigger Pig doesn’t just enhance race weekend — it expands the reach and year-round impact of Pig Works’ mission across Greater Cincinnati.
Join us in investing in the Flying Pig — and in the future of our city’s most iconic weekend.
