It’s a Pig Year: A few Highlights as the Flying Pig Celebrates 25 Years This Week
Pigs may not fly, but for 25 years, they've been racing through the streets of Cincinnati and this weekend, we're excited to celebrate the race's 25th anniversary in style.
First off, we want to give a huge thank you to the Cincinnati community and volunteers who have helped make the Flying Pig the iconic event it is today. Without their support, we wouldn't be able to host such an incredible race year after year.
Speaking of incredible, we're expecting near record crowds and participation this weekend – nearly all of our race events have sold out! But don't worry – there are plenty of ways to get in on the fun.
We’re thrilled to have special guests Jeff Galloway, former Olympian and founder of the Run/Walk/Run training method, and Dave McGillivray, famed Boston Athletic Association Race Director, join us to help celebrate the 25th anniversary. Both will be available for photos and meet and greet opportunities during the 2023 P&G Health and Fitness Expo.
While you are at the Expo, be sure to check out the new Coughlin Family Cup by Rookwood Pottery. The top male and female marathon winners names will be added to the cup base each year. Winners will receive their own smaller replica of the keepsake to commemorate their achievement.
If you're looking for something else to remember the race by, check out our special 25th Anniversary Event Guide or pick up a scoop of limited edition Flying Pig Tracks ice cream from Graeter's. It’s a delicious way to celebrate!
Every year the race prints a poster, but a 25th anniversary poster is extra special, so be sure to check it out along with a display of shirts, medals and posters though the years. We’ll also be selling a limited-edition collectors' poster that shows all 25 posters together with a portion of proceeds supporting Flying Pig Charities.
But the fun doesn't stop there – we've got a whole slate of parties and events planned for the weekend. Check out the Spectator Zones or join one of the Viewing Parties taking place Sunday. Find all the details here.
If you notice downtown Cincinnati buildings lit up in pink from May 5-7, that’s also part of the celebration! We’re thrilled to be lighting up the city with prominent buildings and stadiums supporting the Flying Pig fun.
Overall, there's a lot to be excited about this weekend as we celebrate 25 years of the Flying Pig. Whether you're running, volunteering, or just cheering from the sidelines, we hope you'll join us this weekend!
